If you’re just starting to plan your wedding destination in Spain, you have to take a look at this rustic and romantic destination wedding in the South of Spain. After falling in love with Spain on holiday, this Scottish couple decided Cortijo el Guarda in Marbella was the perfect spot for hosting their dream wedding destination. This wedding combines the right amount of rustic elements to create a beautiful wedding destination . We love every detail captured by David Biasi . Wedding Photographer Marbella:
Carla recommended David Biasi – wedding photographer Marbella specializing in Elopements in Spain for laid-back couples, as were clear from the onset that we wanted a wedding photographer who would be relaxed and manage to capture candid moments without being obvious. David Biasi was fantastic. He was so friendly and happy and made us and our guests feel at ease. The pictures were beautiful; everything we had hoped for in wedding photographs, he captured the day perfectly.
Wedding Planner:
Our wedding planner was Carla from Tucco Wedding and Unique Affairs. She helped make our day perfect.
It was funny though, we actually had more “wedding helpers” than guests at our wedding. It felt like a movie set.
The wedding was the best day ever. from start to finish it was perfect. We are very happy that we opted for a relaxed and intimate affair as it meant we got to spend time with each individual guest. Carla from Tucco Wedding and Unique Affairs was recommended to us. We don’t think our day would have gone so effortless and looked so perfect without her help and coordination. This helped a lot given that we were living over in Scotland throughout the whole planning process!
We knew we wanted a romantic and rustic affair with lots of greenery, neutral colours and of course lots of fairy lights and hurricane lanterns. As we were travelling over from Scotland it wouldn’t have been possible to create our dream wedding without the help of a wedding planner.
Wedding Dress & Kilt:
My wedding dress was a Taylor dress by Badgley Mischka, from Perfect Bridal Rooms. I knew it was the right one as soon as I tried the taylor dress on and fell in love instantly, the bridal party started crying.
Being Scottish, Ross got his kilt for his 18th birthday. The tartan is ancient hunting Macleod. His kilt jacket was from John Morrison Kilt Maker in Edinburgh.
Wedding Shoes:
My shoes were actually from New Look!! I was tempted to invest in a pair of expensive shoes, but as our wedding was outside and I had to walk through olive groves and over cobbles, I realised that didn’t want to spend the money on designer shoes which I would probably regret!
Wedding Accessories:
I wore a beautiful pair of yellow sapphire earrings which were a gift from my parents and a diamond necklace that my husband had gave to me on the morning of the wedding.
Wedding Venue
We initially planned on getting married in Scotland, but very quickly we opted for a “destination wedding in Spain” once the costs and numbers started adding up. We considered a number of places, but I (Viktoria) have always holidayed in Spain and so when my parents suggested the beautiful ‘Cortijo el Guarda’ our searching stopped and we booked the venue quickly. This location is amazing, rustic weddings can also be elegant and sophisticated.
We wanted the day to be relaxed and because the venue is so beautiful we chose flowers that we felt would complement the setting. Our flowers were creams and whites, with lots of green. The boys wore kilt pins made of David Austin roses.

Ceremony (any special wedding readings)
Remy (Ross’ best friend) read ‘Scaffolding’ by Seamus Heaney
Kate (bridesmaid) read our love story which we had prepared prior to the ceremony. Kate read out our love story and it was a really special moment for us as it allowed our family to hear how we met and let us relive those early years.
Ceremony Minister: Natasha Johnson
Music :
We had a local Spanish guitarist who played whilst I walked down the aisle and then during the drinks reception. Afterwards we played our wedding playlist which Ross spent months working on.
Wedding Cake:
Our cake was delicious and created by Marbella Cake Design. We had one layer of white chocolate and raspberry and the other was lemon drizzle. It looked beautiful and again, everyone was full of compliments.
