4. Justifying Yourself to Someone
It can be tempting to try to explain ourselves to someone who seems to misunderstand or judge us, but sometimes it’s better to simply let go and move on. If someone has already made up their mind about us and chooses to see the worst in us, trying to justify ourselves can be a waste of time and energy.
When someone chooses to see the worst in us, it’s often more about them than it is about us. They may be projecting their own insecurities or biases onto us, or they may be unable or unwilling to see us in a positive light.
Instead of trying to convince someone who already has a negative perception of us, it’s often more productive to focus our energy on building relationships with people who see us for who we truly are and appreciate us for our strengths and qualities. This can mean spending more time with friends and family who uplift us or seeking out new relationships with people who share our values and interests.
Our time and energy are valuable resources, and we deserve to spend them on things that uplift us and bring us joy. By letting go of the need to justify ourselves to people who don’t appreciate us, we create space for new relationships and opportunities that align with our values and bring us fulfillment.
