Today’s feature couple’s story has a lot to do with chance and fate. You see, Tanille and Jason met along the beach when Tanille was just the sweet age of seventeen. By chance, they happened to meet years later during a night out in Melbourne. They’ve been together ever since. So it made perfect sense for them to say their vows in the sands of Torquay Beach.
They chose a simple, rustic and boho beachside wedding theme to guide their design, utilizing the natural beauty of the scenery and complimenting it with just a few extra elements. The couple stuck to a very natural color palette, using white roses and baby’s breath. Their rustic and bohemian elements interspersed reflected their personal style, like the beach wood arch draped with white chiffon and flowers. The bride even decorated her tables herself, using plenty of wood elements like wicker chairs and cork placemats with white flower centerpieces in simple vases.
Chance stepped again when Tanille was ready to pick out her wedding gown. A friend of hers owns Fifi& Edga Bridal, so she went to check out her selection first. She says, “I had no idea what I was looking for when I walked into the store, the dress was the first one I laid my eyes on, the first I tried on and I purchased it right there and then.” Her beautiful two-piece lace gown flatters her figure beautifully while remaining classic and elegant for her natural boho-style wedding. Check out the photos captured by photographer Trevor Cooke for how it all came together!
The Information
How did you and your partner meet?
Jason and I met along the beach when I was only 17, which is why it made perfect sense for us to celebrate our everlasting love in the same setting, and then we met again later in life when we unexpectedly crossed paths on a night out in Melbourne.
How did he propose?
The proposal was romantic and intimate – he proposed in the comfort of our home, traditionally getting down on one knee.
How did you choose your wedding gown?
A good friend of mine owns Fifi & Edga Bridal. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the lucky one. My wedding dress was the first one I tried on and I fell in love the moment I looked in the mirror! I love that the dress is two piece and lace, and that it’s traditional but still showed off my figure. I had no idea what I was looking for when I walked into the store, the dress was the first one I laid my eyes on, the first I tried on and I purchased it right there and then.
What sort of style did you envision for your wedding day?
The style I envisioned for my day was rustic and bohemian. We picked the beach for the wedding location as the beach is where we first met, we both love the beach. We went with rustic and boho as I think it complements the beach and it’s nice and natural, wanted to have a really romantic feel with all the candles, we chose whites roses and baby’s breath as we felt that matched the theme really nice. Our colour palette was just nice natural colours.
What was your favorite moment from the day?
My favourite moment from my wedding day was the one where I saw my husband waiting for me at the end of the aisle.
Any DIY décor elements?
I did a lot myself, from my flowers, to the full table setting.
If you could do it all over again, what would you change?
I would probably hire someone to set everything up. We did it ourselves and it was very busy and stressful, but worth it in the end as it looked amazing.
Any tips that you can give to future brides?
My advice for future brides is to try (key word, try) not to tress out as I promise you that everything works out in the end and all the little pieces will come together just perfectly.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I love my husband. My favorite thing about my partner is the way he makes me laugh, he has the best sense of humor and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him. He is the best person I have ever met, he makes me feel like I am complete. He is there for me no matter what. I fell in love with him because he is who he is and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. He’s amazing and I am so lucky to have him.
